Student Action Plan Use Cases

A student action plan is useful wherever a marked paper is handed back and nobody has time to write advice for each student. These are the situations the plan was built for.

Schools

The challenge: Students get their marks back, but no one tells them what to do differently. How student action plans help:

• Every student who lost marks gets written advice for the paper as a whole and for each question they lost marks on.
• Each question is labeled Remediation, Reinforcement, or Extension, so a teacher can see at a glance what needs reteaching and what just needs practice.
• The confidence tip gives a form teacher something encouraging to say to a student who did badly.

Tutoring and test-prep companies

The challenge: After a mock test, a tutor has one session to work out what to cover. How student action plans help:

• A plan per mock test paper, built from the feedback recorded on each answer during marking.
• The skill focus says whether the gap is in understanding the concept, applying it, or solving problems, which is often more useful than the score.
• Advice arrives per question number, so it maps straight onto the paper the student is holding.

Learning platforms (LMS and ERP)

The challenge: Showing each student something more useful than a score, for thousands of students. How student action plans help:

• Ask for one plan per answer sheet through the API, and show the result in your own screens.
• The plan comes back with the student ID and name you recorded on the answer sheet, so it files itself against the right learner.
• Register the student_action_plan webhook so your platform is told the moment a plan is ready, instead of checking repeatedly.

What these plans do not do

Be clear with your users about the edges:

• Questions answered for full marks are not discussed, so a strong paper produces a thin plan.
• No practice questions come with the plan. Creating them is a separate step, for example with the AI Worksheet Builder.
• Nothing is sent to students or parents by the API. Your platform decides who sees a plan.
